PCS performed the underwater inspection of County-Owned Bridges in Sussex, Bergen, Ocean, Burlington, and Monmouth Counties. The divers utilized a large boat, surface-supplied diving system, and helmet with 2-way communications. The technical report detailed defects and included streambed evaluations for existing and potential scour and the substructure’s vulnerability to scour. The Mantoloking Bridge (CR 528 over Barnegat Bay), located in Ocean County, required an emergency inspection due to Super Storm Sandy. Using depth finders and strip chart fathometers, divers were able to find additional scour and debris. The hands on inspection of the 15 substructure units revealed undermined foundations. PCS has a history of providing a highly successful diving operation that is streamlined and efficient.
